Giving Back through Kindness & Community
We all have the opportunity to create impact in life. Giving back plays a big part in my world. Because kindness and community are integral values in my life.
And that’s why I dedicate this section of Lighthouse’s website to support philanthropic initiatives and causes. All our contributions and efforts can make a difference to build strong, thriving communities — right in our backyards or further afield.
Above all, we can create change and make an impact.
But, maybe you’re unsure how to do that? Scroll down and take a look at causes near and dear to me. Or simply start to weave causes into your world. Check out some ways to do that right here.
Community Beacon Award
Presented by Squamish Savings, a division of Vancity – the COMMUNITY BEACON AWARD is an opportunity to take part in Lighthouse’s award-winning mentor program free of charge. We are proud to offer two Community Beacon Awards for the 2019-20 mentor season: one to a female employed in the non-proft sector and another to a female entrepreneur from the indigenous community.
Lighthouse’s Lending Team
Our self-organized Kiva group rallies around shared lending goals to alleviate poverty and support women entrepreneurs globally. Leveraging the internet and micro-finance institutions, individuals can lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world with 100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva going directly towards funding loans. From Sierra Leone to Indonesia, here is a peek at the entrepreneurs we have supported through Lighthouse’s Lending Team.

They are dedicated to providing financial support to organizations whose activities provide benefit to residents. Since 1992, the foundation has raised over $9.4 million for registered local charities making it the largest fundraising organization in the area. I am proud to be a Board Member of this incredible organization.
